Converting fractions to decimals is easier than it sounds. The **/** symbol between the numerator and denominator of a fraction can also be read as "divided by". In other words, the fraction
$$\frac{4}{9}$$
can also be thought of as **4 divided by 9**. To turn this decimal into a fraction, we just need to calculate **4 divided by 9**.
This can be done easily on a calculator:
$$ 4 \div 9 = 0.4444 $$
In this case, we have rounded our solution to 4 decimal places. We care therefore say that
$$\frac{4}{9} = 0.4444 $$
