Return on investment (also known simply as ROI) is a metric that evaluates an investment's performance. Since it is a percentage, it can be used for all investments of different sizes and costs. It is found by taking the ratio of profits and the cost of the investment. The formula for ROI is the following:
Where the Gain from Investment is the amount that the investment is sold for. For example, if you buy some investment for $1000 and sell it for $1100, the gain would be $1100 and the cost would be $1000. In this case we see that the ROI would be 10%. Use the calculator below to see your ROI.
